Hey friends,
It’s a new month. Let’s do a new art and music challenge.
Last month’s results were stunning. The range of interpretations of the prompt was impressive and so much fun to see. I’m blown away by the skill, originality, and thoughtfulness behind all of these works. It’s an absolute honor to be making stuff alongside the artists who I admire and take inspiration from every day. Our little corner of the art world won’t stay so intimate for long. There is something special going on here.
If you haven’t had a chance to see last month’s results, check them out here:
In the previous challenge post, I mentioned that my little music project is coming to a close and that it may be the natural end to these challenges. I decided the album wasn’t quite finished, and that I wanted to work on at least one more piece. So my composition for this challenge will be a continuation of the crazy piano work I’ve made for these challenges so far.
Though I’m still using the same overall subject material that connects the previous challenges, I wanted to approach this challenge a bit differently from ‘A World Within a Phrase’.
When I started to think about a new work in the series, my mind instantly filled with specific textures and shapes that made sense as a natural evolution of the last few pieces. A text prompt didn’t feel necessary because the information was already there.
So, instead of using a quote or phrase for this one, I’m going to give you three words that I’m working with. They are simple and leave a lot of room for interpretation.
I’m really excited to see how you approach this🙌
The Challenge
Make an abstract artwork or music piece (or both) based on these three words:
Massive. Dense. Delicate.
Post your piece on 𝕏 and/or Warpcast any time up until the deadline.
Use #LWArtChallenge, tag me, or DM me so that I can find your work.
Deadline: Sunday, September 15th (end of day for all time zones)
All works will be featured in this Artletter in a follow-up post. The deadline is only for those who would like their work featured. Otherwise, it is an ongoing challenge.
Feel free to mint your work on any platform, but there is no obligation to mint. I will be participating by writing a piece of music, but will not be minting mine yet because it’s part of a larger personal project that I’ll release in the near future. I will do my best to collect any minted works.
The abstract realm is vast and infinite. The simplest prompt sparks a distinct set of imagery in the mind of each artist based on their unique life experience.
I’m excited to see how you take influence from these three words for this month’s challenge.
Feel free to reach out to me at any time.
See you on the other side.
